Important Things to Note About Hiring an Arborist

Posted on: 26 April 2019

Hiring an arborist is a decision that should not be taken lightly. Tree work that is done incorrectly may put the tree at risk and also endanger the person who performs the work. A person who is not qualified may not have the right insurance, which means the customer may become liable and lose thousands in hard-earned cash. It is not advisable to carry out this work yourself, so try and find a professional. Before you hire one, you need to consider some factors to avoid making a mistake.

The Experience

You should always ask the contractor how much experience he or she has with tree care. Making sure that the arborist has the necessary skills and experience to perform the task is important. Pruning and removing trees is a technical and dangerous job, which is the last thing that you want to do without experience. You do not want to cause any damage to the property, have an injury or a fatality. In case you are not convinced with what they say, you need to ask for more proof that they are qualified.

Referrals

Can they give you referrals to the companies or people they have worked for? Hearing what others say about them can help you find out what you can expect from them. You can also check the online reviews of the company to ensure that there are no major complaints about the arborist you plan to hire.

They Should Give You a Written Quotation

Always make sure that they give you a complete quotation, which they can send through email or give to you personally when you go to their office. Everything should be listed clearly without any hidden fees. A reputable and legitimate arborist will have no issue with this because it means they are honest with what they are charging. Also, check if they have an Australian business number.

The Equipment they Use

Ask the arborist what equipment they use. Find out if they have their own crane to do big jobs. Make sure that they have all of the needed equipment so the job gets done efficiently. For instance, aerial lifts can help an arborist work on a tree safely. This is beneficial when the tree is weak or otherwise become hazardous to the climber.

You should take these into consideration before hiring an arborist because it is not a simple job and not anyone can do it. These are very important, especially when it comes to safety.

How to Care for Your Trees

Hi, my name is Sophie. Welcome to my tree care blog. I never paid much attention to trees until I was about 32 years old. I mean, I liked trees. I liked sitting under trees in the summer, but I didn't really think about the effort needed to keep them healthy. All that changed when I married a wonderful man and we purchased a big house in the countryside. The property featured a large garden which contained lots of trees. I wasn't sure how to manage them so I called in a tree service. The guys were great and gave me a real education. I decided I would like to share what I had learnt here.
